Fred Rogers with Kim and Ryan Nussbaum
Kim and young son Ryan meet Mr. Rogers

October marks the 16th Anniversary of ASL Friends! Thank you to our volunteer board members, talented production team, and generous donors. ASL Friends’ mission to advance early language acquisition for deaf children through quality educational programming in American Sign Language (ASL) is stronger than ever. We are grateful to Fred Rogers Productions for permission to utilize Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood episodes to create Mister Rogers’ ASL Friends. By inserting Deaf signers onto the existing Neighborhood episodes, Mister Rogers’ ASL Friends becomes an effective ASL model for young deaf children and their hearing families.

Since 2005 we have seen a rapid development of ASL content by Deaf individuals across the internet. This generation has an exciting opportunity to experience the beauty, complexity, and limitless expression of American Sign Language. Never has there been a better time to learn ASL! ASL Friends showcases success stories of Deaf individuals, Schools for the Deaf, and related resources by sharing links on our Facebook page @ASLFriends. Follow us on Facebook for weekly updates.

We look forward to a successful fundraising season including: Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends event this October 14th & 15th, #GivingTuesday December 1st, AmazonSmile donations, and our ongoing GoFundMe Charity Campaign. ASL Friends, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)3 organization. Together with your help and that of Director/Producer James DeBee, we look forward to Mister Rogers’ ASL Friends coming to the neighborhoods of deaf children across our nation!
